from 5R

Hi,

We are a year five class at Mullumbimby Public School.

we made up a song for our Principal who is retiring. We have a super cool prac teacher who asked our teacher Miss Petroni to do a song for our class. So we got to work.

Our whole class of 27 including me, started to get verses together and then chose the best parts and put them together. Then Miss Taylor (the super cool prac teacher) got her keyboard and we started singing. The girls had their part and the boys had theirs and we sang the chorus together.

we practiced until we recorded the song (which Andrew did, he is Miss Taylors fiance). Our computer teacher Mr Collinson said he would let the world listen, so go ahead and listen.

Read along with our words as you listen. We hope you enjoy it.

WE GO TO MULLUM PUBLIC SCHOOL

We wake up in the morning
While everyone is yawning
and think about our day at school.

We turn off our alarm clocks
and we put on our socks,
If we are late the consequences are cruel.

Our teachers watch us grow
and teach us everything we didn’t know,
They’re our teachers but they’re also our friends.

And when we have a test,
Of course we try our best.
If we don’t know the answers we pretend.

We go to Mullum Public School
No other school is so cool
The Principal he rocks the band
And he conducts with his left hand.

We go to Mullum. Public School
Where we have rules that aren’t so cool.
They’re there so we get along
And get a great education.

We have the best canteen
We wish they sold jelly beans.
Our teachers let us dance and play
The kids are really great
We try not to be late
But when the clock strikes 3 we all shout Hooray!

Mr Benham goodbye
All the kids and teachers sigh
The school won’t be the same when you go.
When he taught he made us work
and he made our brains hurt
But we’re sure we all will miss you when you go.

We go to Mullum Public school
no other school is so cool
Principal rocks the band
He conducts with his hand.

We go to Mullum Public School
Rules aren’t so cool
So we get along
and get a great education.
